Squadron Leader Syed Abid Raza was Assistant Director of Aircraft Engineering (March 1965 - March 1966) at Air HQ, Peshawar, Pakistan (March 1966 - December 1966). It was a Staff Appointment and the responsibility entailed, the maintenance policy modification etc., to aeroengines, held in the inventory of the PAF.

During the 1965 war, he and his team regulated all the engineering activities of war operations (1965). He was in an undisclosed location as member of the War Room Planning and Support Committee with no/limited contact with family and outside world for several weeks. After the war, Squadron Leader Raza was awarded the following campaign and war military medals and respective ribbons for his active military service during the 1965 war by Pakistan Air Force.
