Syed Abid Raza born on November 11, 1927, to Syed Shahid Raza and Zohra Fatma, belonged to a literary family in Khujwa, Siwan District, Bihar, India. His father Syed Shahid Raza, was the elder brother of the distinguished historian and eminent scholar, Professor Syed Hasan Askari. Syed Abid Raza was the 40th generation direct descendent of the Prophet Mohammad (peace be upon him). The ancestry can be traced back to the eminent Sufi saint of the late 13th century, Hazrat Jalaluddin Surkhposh Bukhari, follower of Baha-ud-din Zakariya of the Suhrawardiyya order.

AIR COMMODORE SYED ABID RAZA (1927-2000)

Syed Abid Raza's ancestral house is located in Khujwa, Siwan District, Bihar, India. This house was built by his father Syed Shahid Raza (brother of  Professor Syed Hasan Askari, Padmashree) in 1920s, where he spent his early years. Raza graduated with honors from Mechanical Engineering Department of Aligarh Muslim University in 1948. He immigrated to Pakistan in 1948 and then joined Royal Pakistan Air Force the same year. His widowed mother and siblings later immigrated to Pakistan in 1950s. The keys of this house were handed over to one of his sisters who stayed behind with her family in India. Her son did an outstanding job in maintaining this house. Half of the house with acres of land, is still intact and currently being rented out to be used as a school to educate 170+ students from nearby localities.

Historical background (with minor editing) of this ancestral house, as recently texted by one of the family members.
“Jahan tak hamen pata hai, Nana ney is makan ko bahut shauq se (30/40s) main banwaya tha. Khud apni posting par bahar rahe to Nani ki dekh rekh main kaam hota tha.
Makan ke do hissey the, ek bahri hissa jisse baithak, darwaza, mardan khana ya aaj ke hisab se out house kah sakte hain. Ye pokhta (made of bricks) tha aur photo men yehi nazar aa raha hai, ismen bahar ki taraf do kamre, ek bada ek chhota , angan(courtyard), bath room, stairs aur shayd ek kuan(well)bhi tha; iske south men chhappar aur matti ki diwaron ka bada sa makan tha. Donon ek dusre se ek bade kamre ke zariya connected the, kachche hisse men teen taraf osara aur do kamre the, iske elawa kitchen aur bathroom. Ye kachcha hissa zyada bada tha.
Makan, mohalla Adhiyara( jo aadhe gaon ke maalik the) ki masjid ke west men bilkul mosque se sata hua hai, uske baad west side apne logon ki kuchh zameen hai kuchh dusron ki aur phir pokhra( pond) hai, south men road, north logon ka baagh aur east mosque.
Hasan mamoo marhoom kahte the ke jab ye makan bana to wo log shauq se apne phupha ke makan ko dekhne aate the, is ki speciality men ek baat batate the ke chhappar men jo bans (bamboo) usually 8- 9 inch ke difference par rahta hai wo ismen bilkul sata sata tha, taki gard ( dust ) na gire. Hamen bhi yaad hai kee kachche hisse men bilkul garmi ka ehsaas nahin hota tha.
Partition ke baad sab se zyada jo village effected hua wo Kujhwa tha, aabadi ke naam par chand log rah gaye aur responsibility beshumar, aisi halat men ye makan Majid dada marhoom ko rahne ke liye diya gaya, jo apne ghar walon ke saath 1963 tak rahe, makan ki halat kharab hone lagi, thoda bahut repairing hoti rahi magar kachcha hissa jo har saal morammat chahta hai zyada din nahin thahr paya. Majid dada aur Sajid dada do bhai the jo Syed Walayat Husain marhoom ke bete the. Sajid dada dusre makan men rahte the.
Ham logon ka bhi Kujhwa sirf muharram men jana hota tha tab ammi ki koshishon se kuchchh repairing hoti rahi. Pakka hissa abhi theek hai kyunki usmen kisi na kisi ki rahayish rahi aur karaye par bhi lagaya gaya taki repair hota rahe aur yehi hua bhi. Karaya naam ko hi tha par usse badhkar rahnewale ki jawabdehi hoti thi. Kuchh arsa Dr Meraj marhoom ne apna Homeopathic ka clinic rakkha.Ye Meraj Gaju dada ke naati the.
Around 2 years back ham ne ise Kujhwa ke hi Shekh toli ke Ali Raza hain, unko diya hai taki bachchon ka school chale to ek achchha kaam ho aur theek se maintain ho sake.kahan tak kamyab honge ye waqt batayega, erada to achchhayee ka hi hai.
Jab ye makan bana tha to road 2. - 2 1/2 feet neeche thi, ab chabutra ghayab ho gaya hai aur road bahar ke door se upar aa gayi hai.
Ek correction: Makan ka kachcha hissa north men hai, na ki pakke hisse ke south men. School jo chal raha hai wo Play school se lekar class VIII tak hai, yani play, nursery,KG,I,II,III.....VIII. bachche abhi VI tak hain. Teachers total 9 hain, 4 lady teacher ke sath. Total bachchon ki tadad 170 + hai. Teachers Kujhwa aur aas paas ke gaon ke hain taki bachche bhi un gaon se aa saken, ek lady teacher gaon ki hain baqi 3 bhi bahar ki hain.
Makan men do kamre hain, ek small jismen office hai, uske adjacent bigger one jismen class hoti hai aur baqi classes andar ki taraf shade daal kar.

**School Statistics:

*Total # of Students: 170+

According to a FARMAN in Persian language which is present in Bihar State Archives department, Govt. of Bihar, Shah Alamgir had donated 200 Bighas of Agriculture land in Pargana Andar, Sarkar Saran (Presently in Bihar, District Siwan) to Bibi Badi. When the daughter of Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb fell seriously ill and the court hakims gave up, the ruler said that if Syed ladies of impeccable birth and virtue prayed for her he would reward them suitably. As a result, Bibi Badi and her 14 sisters offered to pray for the princess and she was healed. Out of gratitude, the emperor gave them the land on which Khujwa village was built. After a lot of researches, it has been established that this village Kujhwa has been established by Janab Syed Ghulam Mohammad prior to 1730 on the same land which was donated by Shah Alamgir to Bibi Badi.
According to historical facts Syed Jalaluddine Surkhposh a Sufi Saint who was born in Bukhara in 595 Hijree migrated in 653 Hijree and came to Multan and from there he went to Bhakkhar in Sindh (Pakistan). Makhdoom Jalaluddine Jahangast had very good preaching capacity. Under his influence Rajput of Gujarat belonging to Chakh Tribe had embraced Islam. Makhdoom Sb. died in 785 Hijree in Uooch. It is situated in between Multan and Bahawalpur of Pakistan. The name of one of the son of Makhdoom Jalaluddine Jahan Gast was Syed Naseeruddine Mahmood. After a very long gap the family members of Shah Alam migrated to Hajipur (Bihar) and from there they went to Hasanpura, a village in present Siwan district. During those days Hasanpura was very famous village and there were some famous Sufi Saints.
Among the family members of Shah Alam Janab Peer Mohammad had come to Hasanpura. Janab Peer Mohammad settled in Hasanpura for all practical purposes. The son of Peer Mohammad was Ghulam Mohammad. Janab Ghulam Mohammad was the person who had established "Kujuwa".
During those days on the land of Kujhwa, there was jungle of KOOS & JHAUWA. This land was under the possession of Bhumihars (A community of Hindu people) of village Garbhirar. Janab Ghulam Mohammad had taken the help of the people of Rizwi Family of Kusahra village. The Rizvi family were related to the people of "Chakri" a nearby village of Kujhwa. After taking the possession of the land, Janab Ghulam Mohammad Saheb started cutting of the jungle of KOOS & JHAUWA. When the land was free Janab Ghulam Mohammad had established a village and kept its name as "Kujhwa". All these acts were done prior to 1730.
Janab Ghulam Mohammad had two sons. The eldest son was Meer Jafer Ali who had established "Adheara Mohalla" of Kujhwa. The name of next son of Janab Ghulam Mohammad was Meer Quabil Ali. There were four sons of Meer Quabil Ali. They were Janab Asad Ali, Janab Yaseen Ali, Janab Rahmali and Janab Imam Ali. Janab Asad Ali had established Moulvee Mohalla of Kujhwa. This village was very popular on the front of Journalism. A number of Religious Magazines of International standard were being published from this village. After partition (1947), this village lost its glamour. People having their roots in "KUJHWA" live in different parts of the world. (Ref: Khujwa Online)
